IMG_0509Seniors, from left, Bennett Wilfong, Jerry Oates, Spencer Richey, and Zack Whicker work on their robot in the new Robotics Lab. They are participating in the school’s first Honors Robotics course. The students are learning about the science of robotics and, working in teams of four, applying those principles in the construction and programming of a robot. Physics instructor Mr. Lee Loden teaches the class and also sponsors an after-school robotics club, in which participants create a robot for the FIRST Tech Challenge competitions. Last year the team advanced to the regional level, representing Tennessee at a competition hosted by Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, MO.
